Lakewood Subdivision was developed by the Waterfront Group, a subsidiary of Landstar Development, LLC out of Cornelius, North Carolina. On May 6th of 2006, the Waterfront Group held a one day land sale within the Lakewood Subdivision. Within 25 minutes, 103 lots were sold. This group of people now make up the Property Owners Association of Lakewood Subdivision.

In May of 2007, Waterfront Group turned over the Association to the Lakewood Property Owners, and our first Board of Directors was appointed. The gated community of Lakewood was presented to the homeowners with paved roads and the potential to be a beautiful development that could complement and enhance its natural surroundings.

The homes at Lakewood are to be built with wood, log, rock/stone, stucco or brick to blend with the surrounding area. We have the ability and the potential to add bicycle and walking trails, playgrounds and community areas. This will take planning, community involvement, and dedication to complete the task. The groundwork has been set, now it's up to us to make our dreams a reality.
